This is great. Let me reword my previous comment, which I deleted, for clarification. There is, of course, a huge lesson here about not judging a person by outside appearance, which I know I am too often guilty of. Though that convicted me, that is not what struck me the most.
What struck me is the song's painful lyrics about hope disintegrating under the sometimes unbearable abuses of life.
Let’s admit it. We do let life beat us up and are often afraid of dreaming big dreams. But this success of Susan Boyle reminds us to keep dreaming. So, dream. Dream big dreams. And don’t let your hopes be snuffed out by the troubles of life. Hope in God (Ps 42)!
Jonathan, I loved the video of Susan Boyle when I first saw it a couple of weeks ago. I think she will be rewarded for many years of taking care of her invalid mother and singing in her church choir!
But I wanted to comment on your last post, My Day in Samara. I'm so glad I took 4 minutes and 11 seconds out of my morning to watch your video! Good to see where you are and what it looks like. It really helps me pray. And, by the way, I was stunned by the similarity I saw to Sibiu, Romania, where I spent a lot of time helping with church planting and preaching and teaching. Our apartment blocks and stairwells and streets look exactly the same! Only thing is, we didn't have such a nice garage! In fact, we didn't have a garage at all!
